Welcome to Schuyler Meadows Club

Nestled among the tranquil woods of the village of Loudonville, just north of Albany, lies the scenic acreage of Schuyler Meadows Club, one of the premier clubs in the capital district since its inception in 1927.

In 1926 a group of Loudonville residents decided to form a club of their own which would include a golf course and tennis courts more convenient to their homes than the old Albany Country Club which was located on Western Avenue. Eleven men were prime movers of this idea and were responsible for acquiring the land and implementing the creation of Schuyler Meadows. The Clubhouse was completed in 1927 and was designed by the well known Albany architect, J. Worthington Palmer. He used as model for his design of the exterior the familiar central portion of George Washington’s home at Mount Vernon. The building is situated with the famous large porch and colonnade overlooking  the golf course to the south.

Also completed in 1927 was the golf course, designed by Devereaux Emmet. Mr. Emmet was also the architect for the Mohawk, McGregor and Edison courses locally, Leatherstocking at Cooperstown and both the Blue and Gold courses at Congressional Country Club near Washington, D.C.  The club’s tennis courts were also completed in 1927. Paddle courts and swimming pool were added in later years.
